Why do I still have to pay Child Support after my child turns 18?

There are two different reasons as to why you may still be ordered to pay child support after your child has turned 18.

One reason could be, is your child is still in school. If your child turns 18 before, they graduate from high school, then you may be ordered to pay up until they graduate.

The second reason could be, because you have an outstanding Arrears balance. If you missed a child support payment, or went a certain amount of time without paying then you could still have a balance. The child emancipating will not zero out your balance if you still owe child support to the other parent.
