Why does the other parent have to pay Child Support if I never requested for them to pay it?

If you are receiving any Government Assistance (SNAP, Cash Assistance, Medicaid, etc.) then the non-custodial parent can be ordered to pay Child Support by The Department of Revenue.

The Department of Revenue (DOR) can file a Petition or Motion that sets your case for a court hearing deciding whether or not the Non-Custodial Parent will be ordered to pay Child Support or not. Even if you do not wish for them to, if you receive these benefits, the State can still request that they pay.
