There are 3 different types of Child Support purges, with 3 different ways to pay them.
- Time Purge - If you were ordered to pay a purge within a certain number of days, then you will need to send your purge payment through the State Disbursement Unit. You will need to send a check or money order in the mail to them. On the check make sure it has the correct Court case number on it as well as “PURGE PAYMENT”. This helps the State differ between a purge payment and a regular monthly support payment. The mailing address for the Florida SDU is listed below:
Florida Child Support State Disbursement Unit
PO Box 8500
Tallahassee, FL 32314-8500
- Day of Purge Payment - If the Judge or Magistrate orders you to pay the purge immediately after your court hearing, or by 5 PM on the same day as your hearing, you can pay this in the Clerk's Office Customer Service Building E.
- Purge Payment attached to a Writ of Attachment - If you have an active writ or “warrant for child support” The only way to pay this is to turn yourself in at the local Sheriff's Office. You can then pay the purge to be released from jail on that writ or wait in jail until a Writ Review hearing is set before the Judge.
